There are few places on the calendar quite like Singapore. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to visit, be it for the exhilarating race weekend at Marina Bay Circuit or something else, you’ll know there’s a remarkable energy to this South-East Asian city.
And during the weekend of Formula One which attracts hundreds of thousands of fans, the atmosphere becomes even more electric. So, whether you're interested in the supercars or the Singapore Slings, here are eight reasons why you should travel to the Singapore Grand Prix in 2023.
Singapore is quickly developing a reputation as ‘the Monaco of the East’. This wealthy island city-state has quickly grown to become Asia’s playground for the rich and famous and like Monaco, there's glitz and glamour everywhere you turn.
If you want a taste of the VIP lifestyle, our hospitality package gives you exclusive access to an air-conditioned lounge with an open bar, delicious cuisine, a reserved cushioned seat and race tickets in the Turn 3 Premier Grandstand.
Or, upgrade to the Paddock Club suite to watch from a private grandstand facing the main Straight and Starting Grid. With a gourmet lunch and wine pairings, a complimentary bar, close-up views of the teams, guided paddock access and a special Paddock Club pit lane walk, it's an experience you'll never forget.
Although there are now several Grands Prix that race under the night sky, Singapore had the honour of hosting F1's inaugural night race.
Today, this spectacular event sees 1,600 floodlights illuminate the 5.075km Marina Bay circuit. The lights are four times brighter than at a regular sports stadium, custom-made to minimise glare and surface reflection.
The atmosphere is electric as superyachts bob in the bustling harbour, neon-lit skyscrapers glitter and fireworks light up the night sky. This, coupled with sparks flying as the drivers blast off the starting line and the deafening roar as the cars reach full throttle, makes for unmissable viewing.
There's plenty of world-famous sights to see in this enchanting city. Get the lay of the land by riding the 165 metre-high Singapore Flyer, a giant Ferris wheel overlooking the track, or take a cruise along the ancient Singapore River. Visit Little India & Chinatown, stroll through the Supertrees and Cloud Forest at Gardens By the Bay and pick up some designer threads along Orchard Road.
No trip to Singapore is complete without a visit to the iconic Raffles Hotel. Following a two-year renovation, the hotel has revitalised its restaurants with offerings from the biggest names in the culinary universe. Of course, it also serves the famous Singapore Sling in the Long Bar.
The weekend entertainment during the Singapore F1 is exceptional. Aside from the obvious track action and post-race concerts (Green Day, Marshmello, Westlife and the Black Eyed Peas all performed in 2022), F1-themed parties take place in all of the best bars and nightclubs across the city on race weekend.
As a guest of Spectate, you’ll have access to the very best events. We can also arrange access to the famous Amber Lounge parties, to truly immerse yourself in the high-octane F1 lifestyle with celebrities and other racing fans.
F1 rarely looks better than it does at Marina Bay. As the Singapore Grand Prix takes place in the heart of the city centre, you can expect incredible landmarks and tourist attractions everywhere you turn. The Marina Bay start/finish straight is situated just by the Singapore Flyer, which opened in the same year as the first Grand Prix here. The cars also fly past City Hall, Supreme Court and Parliament, Esplanade Drive and over the Anderson Bridge. To the south of the circuit, you’ll see the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel which features the world's largest rooftop infinity pool.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit features some of the most unique, physically challenging features of any Formula One track. Turn 18 sees the drivers pass underneath a waterfront grandstand, and there's more corners than any other circuit on the calendar – 23 in total. The high-speed track, along with bumpy surfaces, unforgiving walls and Singapore's heat and humidity, give the drivers plenty to think about.

The 2022 Singapore Grand Prix attracted the largest weekend attendance ever seen at Marina Bay Street Circuit. The Spectate team watched all the adrenaline-fuelled racing live, as Sergio Perez took the chequered flag and claimed his second victory of the 2022 F1 season. It was Ferrari's Charles Leclerc that had started in pole position, however Perez immediately jumped ahead when the lights went out.
Despite being under maximum pressure from Leclerc throughout, Perez kept his cool during the safety car-affected race and maintained his position.
Heavy rain made for a treacherous track which reigning world champion Max Verstappen struggled to master, eventually finishing in seventh place. Lewis Hamilton may have won the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix four times, but 2022’s edition was one to forget — multiple incidents left him finishing in ninth place.
The Marina Bay Circuit arrived on the scene in 2008 where Fernando Alonso claimed a controversial victory, and has been an ever-present race since. There's 61 laps and a race distance of 5.063 km. The fastest lap record was set by Kevin Magnussen during the 2018 Grand Prix, at 1:41.905.
The next Singapore Grand Prix will be held on 17 September 2023 at the legendary Marina Bay Circuit. There’s no better time to visit Singapore than when Formula 1 arrives in town and the street circuit growls into life. If you want to be there next year to soak up all the night racing action with fellow racing fans, live, pre-register your interest today for the Singapore GP.
Combine a thrilling race experience at the action-packed circuit with a stay at Grand Copthorne Waterfront, an award-winning hotel perched by the river. You'll be just a short drive from attractions such as Sentosa Island, Orchard Road, Chinatown and Universal Studios.
