We know the best places to stay across the country, from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast, Adelaide to Alice Springs and Kimberley to Kangaroo Island. Previous Ashes tours with our team have included:

  • Appearances from Michael Atherton and David Lloyd
  • Watching Carmen at the Sydney Opera House
  • Cruises through the Whitsundays
  • Whale watching boat tours and, of course…
  • Plenty of laughs

Origins of the Ashes Series

The Ashes series is one of the most iconic and prestigious cricket series in the world, with a rich history dating back to 1882. This biennial Test cricket series between England and Australia is more than just a competition; it’s a storied rivalry that has captivated cricket fans for over a century.

The origins of the Ashes are steeped in cricket history. It all began with a mock obituary published in The Sporting Times after a heavy English defeat to the Australians. It declared that English cricket had died and “the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia.” 'The Ashes' were born, and the series has become one of the most iconic cricket events in the calendar.

Over the years, the Ashes have produced some of the most memorable moments in cricket history. From Don Bradman’s astonishing 974 runs in the 1930 series to the fierce battles between Sir Donald Bradman and Sir Leonard Hutton, the Ashes have seen it all. The series is known for its intense rivalry and competitive spirit, with both teams giving their all to win the coveted trophy.

Matches are played at some of the most iconic cricket grounds in the world, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia, and Lords and the Oval in England. These venues are not just places to watch cricket; they are hallowed grounds where cricket history is made.
